“Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water.
The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken.”

The ubiquitous Buddha Nature, the Sanskrit “Alaya” underlies all our outward states of consciousness, the Precepts say.
“Alas, alas, that all men should possess Alaya, be one with the great Soul, and that possessing it, Alaya should so little avail them!”
“Behold how like the moon, reflected in the tranquil waves,” the verse continues, “Alaya is reflected by the small and by the great, is mirrored in the tiniest atoms, yet fails to reach the heart of all.
“Alas, that so few men should profit by the gift, the priceless boon of learning truth, the right perception of existing things, the Knowledge of the non-existent!” -Book of the Golden Precepts
“That man possesses an immortal soul is the common belief of humanity,” wrote William Q. Judge, and “to this Theosophy adds that he is a soul. And further that all nature is sentient —
“… that the vast array of objects and men are not mere collections of atoms fortuitously thrown together and thus without law evolving law — but down to the smallest atom all is soul and spirit ever evolving under the rule of law, which is inherent in the whole.”
“This was known to every high Initiate in every age and in every country: ‘I and my Father are one,’ said Jesus (John x. 30). When He is made to say, elsewhere (xx. 17):
‘I ascend to my Father and your Father,’ it meant that which has just been stated.
“It was simply to show that the group of his disciples and followers attracted to Him belonged to the same Dhyani Buddha, ‘Star,’ or ‘Father,’ again of the same planetary realm and division as He did.”
Rollin McCraty, Ph. D.
“Health of the body and mind can only be fully realized through coherent vibration.”
Spiritual Communion
It is the knowledge of this occult doctrine that found expression in the review of “The Idyll of the White Lotus,” when Mr. T. Subba Row wrote: “Every Buddha meets at his last initiation all the great adepts who reached Buddhahood during the preceding ages . . . every class of adepts has its own bond of spiritual communion which knits them together. . . The only possible and effectual way of entering into such brotherhood . . . is by bringing oneself within the influence of the Spiritual light which radiates from one’s own Logos [spiritual mind].”
Living in Oneness

“Come Ye Out”
“The individual in race or nation is warned by this great doctrine [karma] that if he falls into indifference of thought and act, thus molding himself into the general average karma of his race or nation,” wrote W. Q. Judge — “that national and race karma will at last carry him off in the general destiny.
This is why teachers of old cried, ‘Come ye out and be ye separate.’ [from separateness]
“With reincarnation, the doctrine of karma explains the misery and suffering of the world, and no room is left to accuse Nature of injustice.”
No Obstacles From Letters of H. P. Blavatsky (archival)

As We Sow
The chief point of the spiritual teachings of karma and reincarnation, for humanity, Mme. Blavatsky says — “is to uproot that most fertile source of all crime and immorality — the belief that it is possible for them to escape the consequences of their own actions."
“Once teach [humankind] those greatest of all laws — Karma and Re-incarnation,” Blavatsky writes,
“… and besides feeling in themselves the true dignity of human nature, they will turn from evil and eschew it as they would a physical danger.”
All good and evil things in humanity have their roots in human character, and this character is ever conditioned by an endless chain of self-initiated cause and effect. But this conditioning applies to the future, as well as to the present and the past. Selfishness, indifference, and brutality can never be the normal state of the race, Theosophy affirms — to believe so would be to despair of humanity.
Evolution of Responsibility
“Progress can be attained, and only attained, by the development of the nobler qualities,” says Blavatsky. “Now, true evolution teaches us that by altering the surroundings of the organism we can alter and improve the organism — and in the strictest sense this is true with regard to man.”
“Such efforts should be made with a view to their ultimate social emancipation, or the development of the sense of duty in those who now so often neglect it in nearly every relation of life.” -Key to Theosophy, Section 12
“The sense of responsibility must be the guiding principle in our life. The sense of responsibility is the key to human and planetary survival.” -Torkom Saravdrian
No Obstacles
“In every country and in every age there were and there will be people, pure of heart, who, conquering their earthly thoughts and the passions of the flesh, raise their spiritual faculties to such a pitch — that the mysteries of being and the laws governing Nature, hidden from the uninitiated — are revealed to them.
“Let blind men persecute them — let them be burned and hunted — let them be called Magi, Wise Men, Raj Yogis or saints — they have lived and they still live everywhere, recognized or unrecognized.
“For these people who have illumined themselves during their life-time, there are no obstacles, there are no bodily ties.
“They do not know either distance or time. They are alive and active in the body as well as out of it. They are, wherever their thought and their will carries them. They are not tied down by anything, either by a place, or by their temporary mortal covering.”

“If our present lives depend upon the development of certain principles which are a growth from the germs left by a previous existence, the law holds good as regards the future.
“Once grasp the idea that universal causation is not merely present, but past, present and future, and every action on our present plane falls naturally and easily into its true place, and is seen in its true relation to ourselves and to others.”
“Every mean and selfish action sends us backward and not forward, while every noble thought and every unselfish deed are steppingstones to the higher and more glorious planes of being.
“If this life were all, then in many respects it would indeed be poor and mean — but regarded as a preparation for the next sphere of existence, it may be used as the golden gate through which we may pass, not selfishly and alone, but in company with our fellows, to the palaces which lie beyond.”

The Beacon Light
“Printed words are only ‘ladders’ by which the learner can climb to Wisdom. Each one has to make his own connection with higher planes and Those who live in higher realms.
“It has often been said that ‘when the materials are ready, the Architect will appear.
“So our work must be to get the material ready, and that means we have to get rid of the purely personal bias by making Theosophy a living power in our lives. So long as we are working for some reward, are inclined to be despondent or impatient, we shall be placing obstacles in our own way.” -Robert Crosbie, The Spirit in the Body
“Although Theosophical ideas have entered into every development or form which awakening spirituality has assumed, yet Theosophy pure and simple has still a severe battle to fight for recognition.
“. . . there are others among us who realize intuitionally that the recognition of pure Theosophy — the philosophy of the rational explanation of things and not the tenets — is of the most vital importance inasmuch as it alone can furnish the beacon light needed to guide humanity on its true path.
“This should never be forgotten.”
